Happy Chinese New Year to all of you!

How is your 1st day of the lunar year going for you? Good I hope,collect as many ang pow as you can wor! And so,I shall begin. Remember in the previous post,I promised to wear a cheongsam for this Chinese New Year? And I showed you guys a sample of what I am going to wear? Unfortunately,the blogshop sent the wrong colour to me. I ordered the cream,but they sent the red one instead. Trying it on,I thought it wasn't too bad. So I didn't change it. Here we go...

I must admit,this isn't the best photo shoot for the cheongsam that I can ever give. But I wanted to rush out,so I made do with I can. The lighting is slightly over exposed because I turned on 2 lights for a better view. It was taken the night lunar 1st,so the natural light wasn't very good. And outside raining some more! Brrrr!

After the shoot,let down my hair. Loved the flowers that I bought from Chinatown!

According to myth,that sounds quite logical too. While I was watching CNA this afternoon,the forecast by the China lady for finance this year is that gaming(if I didn't hear wrongly),shipping and water-related tourism industries are bound to raise. Hello Darlings!

I remembered that last time,one of my Malaysian friends lamented how Chinese don't wear their traditional costume anymore during Chinese New Year,while Malays and Indians are still wearing that Baju Kurung and Sarees during their festive season. So there and then,I made up my mind:

I SHALL WEAR A CHINESE TRADITIONAL COSTUME THIS CHINESE NEW YEAR!

Partial inspiration also came from 'A Song to Remember'. Watching it every night,I noted how elegant the actresses had brought cheongsam out to be.

Another part of the elegance comes from the make up and hairdo too! Red lipstick and classic curls. Red lipstick is already quite difficult for me to pull off,much less the curls! So perhaps,I would do a red stick and just comb back my hair?

Unsure of how the response would turn out,I decided to post a status in Facebook to see what the people would say. Asking for 50 likes,it went beyond,up to 58 likes.

Hokays..... So 58 people would like to see me wearing a cheongsam this Chinese New Year. Sounds good! The image that I posted and hoping to look for would look something like this:
No red lipstick,but a very classic hairdo. Sequins and laces,deep red and silk material,I assume. The overall feel is just,argh,traditional and elegant at the same time!

I wanted a long one,maybe with short sleeves? Deep red too,with some sequins. So I went to check out several shops recommended by friends and those that I have found online. Each quotation just gets a little disappointing. I am really eager to wear one,but due to the material and customisation,they all said that it would cost about $100 to $200. Sad max,it means my cheongsam would most likely not be customized! My mom said that even if we were to go china,it may be cheaper. But still exceeds $100.

Nevertheless,I found a modern one online.

Hmmm.. How does this look? I hope it isn't too disappointing to what I had originally promised that I would carry out. What do you guys think?

I think that,one of the deterrent to wearing a cheongsam during festive seasons for Chinese is the price of customising a nice cheongsam. Nobody wants to wear unflattering clothings,especially during chinese new year. Everyone want to look their best! A cheongsam is suppose to bring out a girl's curves,elegance. But Chinatown often sells ready-made,unflattering and straight cut ones. So yupe,that's one factor. So where do they look? Modern clothings. Losing this bit of tradition and not wear traditional clothings doesn't matter to the younger generation,what's more important is that the angpaos mustn't stop coming!

Anyway,I don't want to keep you all for too long but I would like you guys to take note of one important note: To my knowledge,many of us are Han Chinese,cheongsam actually comes from Manchu culture. When the Manchu people took over,the Han Chinese were forced to adopt the Manchu culture or face death penalty. So talk about Singaporean Chinese who truly wants to follow the Chinese tradition? You wouldn't be wearing a Cheongsam,you would be wearing this!

Thoughts after BabyG competition

As the BabyG competition had come to an end,I found myself more active than before. In terms of being under the sun more often,doing more sports. Those are the habits that I dropped while studying and now making an effort to blog for the competition,I pick them up again. Jogging,playing tennis and swimming? I enjoy being under the sun more often than before. Better than being a sickly student who only knows how to study,yea? :)

The Studio Cocktail Bar

Hello Darlings!

How has 2012 treated you so far? Good,I hope. Just a couple weeks back,Smith invited June and I to The Studio Cocktail Bar for their official launch. Just located along the stretch down Bugis,it makes super convenient for June and I to meet up and take 5 minute walk over.

At The Studio,the ambiance was homely,cosy and intimate. Definitely not your usual bar which blares pop songs,jazz or sells itself as a KTV lounge. Soothed by serene songs playing in the background,look out for the cute bartender named Sam to whip up The Studio's signature drinks to perk you up!

I was very excited to try bartending. Not exactly stand there and mix drinks for others but do my very own drink. Given a small recipe for a cocktail,I tried this mix with vodka.

Told to squeeze lemon juice into the concoction... Just a teeny weeny bit,not too much......
Opps! The cocktail was very strong,someone said that it's like 80% alcohol! It's a recipe which I will not be sharing here online but for you to go down and try it for yourself.

You can request to blend your own drink too! Some people like it strong,some like it mild. Some like more of this,some like more of that. In any case,it's your call!

She is the lady standing on the right,wearing spectacles. Everyone told her that it is impossible for her,but she managed to set it up. At the age of 21! My goodness,how many of you own your very own business at the young age of 21?

Awhile back,I was invited for media launch of Kirin Draft at AquaNova. Beer,I was never a fan. Never like the taste actually,but people told me that Japanese beer are different and I GOTTA TRY IT. Seriously?

Here's how a bottle of Kirin beer would look like.
Man,I was blown away. It IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BEER! This was much more refreshing,clean and smooth. Exactly to what others had described. I used to think,beer's just beer. How different can it get? But this one,this really has the clean and smooth taste. I like it! Not that I would be hooked on to it,but Kirin beer would definitely be in my list of choices if I were to have a bottle of beer.

First of all,the Hearty Christmas Roast Platter for 4 ($98):
Containing meat of all sorts,such as beef/chicken/pork as well as some sides like onion rings and salad,it is a MUST-TRY for all! A hearty meal indeed,for a mainly carnivore like me who doesn't eat any greens,I absolutely enjoy this meal. And for all the other meat-lovers out there,you are bound to love this as well. This platter is a package including desserts and drinks

Beef
Instead of your usual wagyu beef that can be found anywhere else,they have decided to use the succulent Australian beef instead. Grilled to perfection,my fellow diners complimented its tenderness and how good it tastes.

Chicken
Spring Chicken! Anyone would love this. Tender meat,marinated overnight with their in-house recipe and slowly roasted with herbs. No herbs tasted but definitely aromatic and DELICIOUS!

Pork
Luscious Pork Cheese Cracker and Spicy Bratswurst with traditional sauerkraut
Spicy Bratswurst isn't all that spicy,it is tasted to be more flavourful. And Luscious Pork Cheese? Oh my,you cannot imagine. You have to taste it to know. All I can say is,the bite is explosive. The cheese simply melts into your mouth the minute you sink your teeth into it.

Sides
The onion rings comes with a BBQ sauce which complements each other. Nothing special,I would say. But the Creamy Cheese Baked Idaho Potato Gratin that is lying in the centre,is a whole different thing. It's like rosti,except mixed with cheese. Not something that makes you sick after eating for a long time but definitely something worth ordering on the menu. Salad's super fresh and you can totally hear the crunch!

This platter for 4 comes with a drink for each:
Passionately Fizzy Drink
Bubbly,fizzing with goodness of cranberry at the bottom and Orange ice shavings on the top. Not sour-ish at all,sweet in fact!

Last but not least,the promised dessert along with this platter:
Divine White Chocolate Cheese
As mentioned,the whole top is coated with white chocolate while the center contains a chunk of Philadelphia cream cheese! Sinful to the max. It tastes so buttery! The alternate to go for would be the "yule love it" chocolate log cake. People who prefers dark chocolate can go for this as they contain chocolate mousse,covered with Belgian couverture dark chocolate.

Hello darlings!

If you have been following my twitter for quite awhile,you would have realise that I went for a simple Baby-G photoshoot with the girls at SPH. We were there to collect our watches and damn,all of us are DAMN EXCITED!

Brotzeit at 313 Somerset

Today's post is going to be about food again. I think I can SO be a food blogger already,visiting so many food outlets all over Singapore. TEEHEE! In any case,I'm not complaining~

Last weekend had been quite a rainy one,did it flood somewhere again? We didn't want to run in the rain to other restaurants so decided to went for Brotzeit. LOL! I totally enjoyed my lunch while the afternoon rain went on outside the window.

Wildragout:
Game stew from deer & wild boar
I think it's super yummy. Absolutely delicious,especially on the first bite. So flavourful and very WOW for me,wasn't expecting it to be THIS GOOD. The meat can get a bit chewy but the sauce goes well with pasta. No comment on the purple cabbage,but the greens were wrapped with a slice of bacon. I think,it should be yummy! :)

Kalbsrahmgulasch: (dunno how to pronounce. Anybody?)
Veal Goulash- Braised veal shank “Goulash” in paprika sauce with buttered spatzle.
Don't ask me. This is The Boy's orders. He says it's good,the sauce goes well with the pasta.

The waiter was a bit pushy but otherwise,the overall ambience was quite nice. I had always wanted to come to Brotzeit with The Boy! Cause I always see it being full house here at Somerset 313 and Raffles City. The Boy has requested for no photos up here,so you shall not see him in this post. HEHE!

Indulging in good food!

HELP!

All the good food that I'm indulging in is making me grow fat! I'm putting on more weight than I can afford,or faster than I can even say STOP. Hohoho! I am celebrating my and my partner's end of exams. So just this once,yes? On Friday night,we went for Prego at Fairmont. Italian cuisine is his loveeeeeeee.

Service
Service sucks by the way,think you wouldn't enjoy the service and do go with a reservation. They can be quite crowded with the dinner crowd.
We were there with a reservation. Though there was no one in the queue,we waited for the waitress to come back so that we can notify her that we have a reservation. Then,a freaking ah tiong couple who's sloppily dressed,cut our queue and walked straight in! What's worse was a waiter took notice of them,looked around for empty tables and immediately led them to their seats without even looking at the queue. What the freak? So effing ridiculous. And the waitress came back,couldn't understand that we had a reservation and had to keep repeating ourselves until I pointed at the reservation list. Zzz. Bad start.

Food
Went for the set mea ($55++) or something,which consisted of 4 courses. This was the complimentary bread given with cheese,not very nice so I didn't finish it.
I think it's herbs or something. Nahhhhhhh.

First course was Mushroom soup,which was quite delicious but there's no photo of it. I took a pic of the second course:
Tomato-base pasta.
Boyfie was saying that the cherry tomatoes was actually quite nice and sweet. Not for me,I'm a carnivore and am only eating the carbohydrates and the sauce. NO VEGGIES FOR ME! Didn't finish it cause the portion was a bit too big,later cannot finish the main course. :P

I always enjoy my dinner with him cause we talk about a lot of stuff. And I can be quite nonsensical at times. So this once,we were talking about something which he then got pissed off and told me to talk to the flower. HAHAHA! Awww,ladies,it might not be a good idea to have flower decorations on the table in case your boyfriend tells you to talk to the flower instead. Funny shit! Hi flower!

Here's my 3rd course,the main course. Free-range chicken with potato and don't know what vegtable. Not bad,I love this cause the meat is very tender. That is,until you hit the breast meat. The potato was normal,fry in oil and sauces. Not too bad. This with white wine,PERFECT-O!

Last of all,it's tiramisu. Nothing special,really. Even though it came highly recommended in most food reviews. Overall,it's always the company that saved the experience in restaurants whom can do better. in this case,it's the service that I didn't like.

My take on this?
DON'T WATCH. It's not worth the money,really. I would rate it 2 stars against 5. I would evenn rate it 1.5 even,but I would give credits for the elaborate costumes and good acting by seasoned actors. It started out normal,that Theseus and his mother was ostracized by fellow villagers. Until the war came where King Hyperion in his search for the Epirus Bow to unleash the Titans to avenge his sick family members (which was not even showed in the film,only him and his blood-thirst search),Theseus help to fight in the war. Too much blood,too little prowess showed by the Gods. Plus,

All the Gods were killed except for Zeus. His beautiful/chio daughter also kena slaughtered by the Titans. Aiya,not nice to watch one. Really. If I'm not wrong about the God,Aries was killed by his own father Zeus because he disobeyed the celestial law.

Too gore-y also. Too many poke-your-eyeballs, roast-you-alive, scratch-your-face, stab/punch-your-balls-until-you-no-father's-day scenes. Not nice,really. Distasteful. As compared to 300,this is 200x worse.

HELLO MY DARLINGS!
How are you all?

My exams are coming to an end and holidays are about to start,I'm feeling extremely lazy. I wanna lie in the comfort of my bed all day long,eating food that I love,reading books by the window with glorious sunshine shining in! In any case,here's a little update to satisfy your craving to read this space.

As I grow older,I find my beverage choices widening. From coke,I went on to drinking wine and tea; Something which I guess we all eventually learn as we mature. Now,instead of ordering my usual coke,I actually begin to give a second thought to ordering tea! TWG is one place that I'm beginning to frequent,Marina Bay Sand's outlet to be exact. I have yet to try the one at ION but they looked crowded all the time. TWG has got a nice ambience,wide range of tea and the service's pretty good I guess.

On a random weekend...

YEAH!
TWG for the win! Got myself a pot of Chamomile for $11++. If you feel that for that kind of price,you should try something more exotic,please do go ahead. We all have different preferences. I like mine flowery and mild. Not too heavy because...

I'm complementing it with Macarons.
The black one is Caramel. But I must say,it doesn't really taste like caramel. The sweetness is simply overpowering everything else. Second of all,my advise is that you best not try it especially if you are on a date. This damn macaron gave me lips and teeth a darker shade. My partner commented that I look like a zombie =.=
The pink is Bain de Rose. Needless to say,yes,it's rose flavour. I love it,mild tinge of rose and sweetness. I must say,all these macarons are pretty soft and can't be compared to its original makers in Paris.

And cakes!
I honestly regretted ordering this cake. I also wouldn't recommend this,though I think the rest might do much better. It's kinda soft and bouncy like jelly. Chocolate and orange I think. If you can see the middle section,there's a layer of orange. NOT NICE. Sorry,I don't really like it. The taste is just too weird,doesn't really complement each other very well. I ended up scooping the top and bottom layer off,leaving the orange untouched.

I absolutely enjoy my day spent at TWG,perfect place to spend a quiet evening. And it's a good place to chat! I would love to come back and try their salmon again.

So,tea anyone?

My take on this movie:
I would rate this 2.5-3 stars against 5. Not super good,but not too bad either. Thanks to Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller for saving the show with their acting,but otherwise,the plot's a bit messy. If you have watched Ocean 11,see this movie as a major spoof of that.

Ben acts as the manager of a high-rise apartment,he takes note of every little details of the residents in the building and helps them to run their daily tasks. So when one of the residents cheated him and his staffs' money,he pops a plan to steal the money back. However,the female lead was quite chummy with him,as though they have known each other for quite some time already. Kinda unbelievable,but well,like I say,the plot's kinda messy. Ending was like errr.... Okay.

I was invited to join a workshop held by Jill Lowe International.
Sounds familiar? Probably,they have make up brand and in general,they are a image consultancy agency. They provide a one-stop all for people's image like facial treatment,ways to slim down and choosing the right colour for you.

Well,first of all,here's Gwen:
Our speaker of the day. Confident and poised.
Here,she is showing us the kind of colours we belong to. Meaning that it match our skintone. Spring(attractive) Summer(romantic) Autumn(sophisticated) Winter(dramatic) Most of us belong to 2 seasons. And maybe if we're lucky,3 seasons.

She goes on to explain how our brain works with what we see. All of us are dependent on:

55% visual (body language & style)
7% verbal (knowledge)
38% vocab (way we speak)

Because we depend so much on visual senses,it is important that we dress well and not send the wrong signal to people about who we really are. For a start,we were told to compare and see which one we like more.

Like room A or room B,apple A or apple B etc. All about presentation yea?

Colours are often associated with jobs,we form an impression when the job's nature is mentioned. Such as doctors goes with white,lawyers goes with black. You never heard of a doctor or lawyer wearing red to work,do you? Not that they can't,but it just feels... Wrong.

Many different colours of fabric to explain to us. Don't understand the importance of it? Let's see:

This guy ask if white tie suits him. Different colours of fabric acts as the tie colour to show their difference. So apparently,white tie doesn't suit him after all.. Good that he found out before he actually wore them. I wonder what's he going to do with the tie now. Hmmm..

As for me? I'm quite glad that I have been wearing the right colour all along. White in general,its my favorite colour. I belong to the Spring/Autumn group. What do you belong to?

There are some tips which ladies can consider. For example,if you would like to project yourself taller,don't just focus on high heels. Try matching your heels colour with your skirt! If you wanna look shorter,match your heels colour with your top instead.

Try pink for dates and family bonding,it gives people a sense of feminism. More light-hearted than any colour ;)

And this is Marion Neubronner who taught us about people at the peak of their performance and staying there. How did they do it? She explains to us the little changes or things they do in their life. Take the leap,make the change and let your inner beauty shine!

Which girl doesn't like to dress up? We all want to style that says me,me and ME. Watch is an accessory that's great to go with any style. Not only it's importance is to tell the TIME but also MATCH your style!

For me? Both are equally important. I need to know the time so that I can properly allocate the amount of time that should be spent on doing each task. Yet at the same time,I need something that is more than just a watch.

Thanks to OMY.sg and Singapore Flyer,I was among the first few who had the honour to joining the preview of the Frightfest by Singapore Flyer that will be officially happening on the 28th,29th and 30th of October 2011.

Along with others,most of us dressed up. They were so brilliant that I feel underdressed :(

After the ride,we proceeded to check out the garden at Singapore Flyer. The Singapore Flyer has transformed the garden directly under the flyer into a dark spooky places with ghouls waiting to jump out on you! Just like western has their vampires and werewolves,the Singapore Flyer has Asian themes such 'The Lady in Red', 'Ju-on' and people wailing & burning joss sticks...

Offerings placed everywhere,hell notes all over the place.
Wait,what? A laughing chinese campire? Now,that's a bit unusual. HAHA!

I wonder if they actually bought this real coffin. But this is how realistic everything is in there. Wailing woman offering you joss sticks...

VERY GOOD MAKE UP!

Go check it out,because everything was very well-done and realistic! Down right to the lighting (spooky red and green lights here and there,somewhere),real joss sticks and hell notes thrown all over the place. PERFECT SPOOK I SAY!

We were afterwards treated to a special non-alcoholic Halloween Brew.
The whole experience was AWESOME and SPOOKY!

Last week,I was asked to come along for food tasting in Downtown East. Initially,I didn't know what it was. Until I reach,I realised that we're actually about to try out beancurd! I had always wondered what's the big deal and why does everyone seemed so 'into' beancurd,I even have friends going out to eat beancurd for supper! Don't get me wrong,it's fine.
We all have our own choice of food for supper. But honestly,

in all my life I have never ever eaten beancurd before.

Really. I consider beancurd and other food like,black glutinous rice/tau suan/chng tng/black sesame paste etc as 'healthy food',which all looked so appealing to me that I therefore conclude that they are NOT. NICE. FOR. ME.

So-Yea offers 4 flavours:

Yes,these beancurd are in cups! The idea actually came from lady boss's and her husband,who love to eating beancurd but always found it a hassle to find a place to sit down just to eat. So drinking of like bubble tea makes it more convenient,enjoy eating/drinking healthy stuff on-the-go!

I love sashimi!

I can't really say I'm a big fan of ramen and sushi but I do occasionally crave for Japanese food. What I love best is Salmon Sashimi.That freshness,that Q-Q taste... YUMS! I'm sure sashimi lovers out there know what I'm talking about. When it comes to sashimi,the freshness and quality is an important factor to enjoying the dish itself.

There are only these few places that I go,Nihon Mura and Sakuraya. The rest is a big no-no. And the best sashimi I feel,comes from Sakuraya Fish Market. They only have two outlets,one at West Coast Plaza and the other at Parkway Parade. I frequent the one at Parkway Parade on occasional weekends (no,you cannot stalk me!) and totally love the food there!

Sushi rice! You can try their wasabi,but I don't feel that its very fresh or spicy enough. Don't have the sudden burst of flavour in your mouth.

They go by the weight of sashimi to determine the price. It's not very cheap,but I assure you that it's got some quality in there!

Osteria Mozza at Marina Bay Sands

Last Saturday was an awesome evening well-spent with people I love!

I have never really go for italian cuisine,so why not give it a try? I saw Osteria Mozza at MBS the other time when I was there to watch Swan Lake,decided to go for them cause I thought the ambience looked good. Gave them a call to make a reservation rather than risk walking in and being rejection on the account of a full house,but they only had a 5.45pm and 10.15pm slot. Gosh,that place must be really popular huh?

Cabbed there and reached at nearly 8pm. Being cheeky,we decided to try our luck at Osteria Mozza to see if its really full house. It doesn't matter,we have a reservation even if its full house at 8pm. And voila,they have a table! No waiting at all,we were seated immediately. Ha,to think that they gave me a 10.15pm slot over the phone. The place was 3 quarters filled lo,so many people cancel their reservation meh? HA!

We had a starter,which was called Affettati Misti:

Top left Prociutto di San Danielle, top right a salame, bottom right Copa. Right in the centre,is something like a fried dumpling called Gnocco Frito. Very yummy,cause its quite hot and empty inside,to be eaten together with the cold ham.

Next up,my main course would be Leg of Lamb:
Not superb,to be honest. I really suggest that you don't go for this. Tasted like some mutton satay which you could have easily gotten from the hawker centre. I don't like it cause its not really well-done. You can't really say the skin is crispy,the middles were not really all that tender either. Just feels like chomping and knawing on a piece of,oh well,ordinary meat.
Was a bit disappointed in this though,but I really must give it credits for its presentation. Looks good,isn't it?

Since we are here,I don't see why we shouldn't indulge. So we had a bottle of wine to go along with our main course:
Not an expert on wine,but it goes well with the lamb meat that we're having.
They have a in-house sommelier,someone who can recommend you a good bottle of wine within your budget. Pretty helpful,if you couldn't decide what would be good with your main course.

The ambience just isn't all that good for conversations and the music's a little loud. Not a very good place to talk,I would say. And the menu was mainly in italian,better go with someone who's familiar with italian cuisine. The translation doesn't shed much light on what you are about to order and I don't suppose you wanna risk having a bad course in such a nice environment,would you? The service was excellent,the staff was friendly and attentive to all our needs. They were quite knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu as well.

Heh,overall,its the company and food that makes a difference to the overall experience!
Not a very cheap place if you wanna visit,the bill ran up to $260+.
Hey,I'm not complaining. It's the overall experience that makes a difference! ;)

After dinner,we went over to Louis Vuitton. Nothing much there,its really like a museum lor. Having a look inside is fine,but I don't feel that they carry as much good as ION's LV. Then head over to Longines. STILL didn't get my watch that I want badly,cause I really can't make up my mind about Quartz and automatic.
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Shall we play a game of chess?

As major exams are approaching,I as a student can understand how the rest of the students felt.
Angsty,insecured and so on.

So well,here's a piece of advise:
In life,we don't wholly use intelligence to prove our worth. No doubt that piece of paper is important,but that is only the initial stage of impressing our interviewers to meet us. The rest of our performance at work is then based on how we interact with our colleagues. Unles you're a boss or director at first shot,then I nothing to say lah! HA!

Intelligence =/= Winning

Knowing everything doesn't mean that you will win for sure. Being able to anticipate the next move is more important,or so I feel. For an example,chess board. You and the other chess player can see everything,isn't it? But does it mean you will win? No. Because you don't know what is your opponent thinking. So now you see why,knowing everything does not necessary mean that you will succeed or win.

So now,Opponent,shall we play a game of chess? =)

Personally,I would rate this movie as 3.5 stars against 5. It is a hilarious comedy that promises you a plot as funny as The Hangover 2. There was no telling when or where the movie is going to bring you to,loads of surprises that makes you break out into bouts of laughter. Dirty,dirty,dirty.
This movie about body switch up after getting drunk and pissing in a supposedly magic fountain. Lots of tits and bums to be expected,with foul obscenities yelled often. The actors were pretty good at acting it out too,making us believe that they had really switched bodies. It's a pity that this show is rated M18,but the rest of you should just catch this movie for some laughter!

Celebrating Mid-Autumn festival

Hello tweety birds!
How have you been? I'm currently having my exams but I took some time out to hang out with my close friends. A little late but better than never,I'm gonna blog about Mid-autumn festival today. How was yours? I celebrated mine somewhere near my place.

Look,a traditional single egg yolk mooncake! With tea of course. As you can imagine,it's Earl Grey by Twinings. Hehe!

The wind was pretty big that night,very hard to keep the flames lighted especially when we place them in the centre. Thinking that I'm very smart,I placed a candle in the centre and put a cover over it. And this is what happened:
The top melted! Gosh,looks like the heat's distance was much much nearer than I thought. Oh boy,I do feel bad for melting plastic though.

Nevertheless,an enjoyable night. Cool wind,heart to heart talks,yummy mooncake,tea and lanterns. What more can one ask for on mid-autumn festival? I'm contented.

Under the Body Beautiful,I'm one of the 15 girls who went for the photoshoot back then at the start of August. There,remember I had a post about Lucky Egg? That's the day,and I'm glad that the photoshoot went pretty well!

There was a make up artist and hair stylist with several other girls around who were there for the shoot. Everyone's so fun-loving and nice! I must say,the girls who came in were really really confident! Regardless of their body size,they all have a very confident smile on face and posed confidently for the camera. The one and only word that can summarise what I see in them:

Confidence

I'm really proud of them! Just as I am happy and confident about my own body too.

Enjoying a good cup of Twinings tea

Last week,I was invited by Sebastian (thank you so much for the invitiation!) to a tea workshop held in Marina Bay Sands Hotel,in the Presidential Suite. The suite was said to overlook the front and back of the hotel,meaning the city view and sea view. Oh boy,was I so excited!

Now,I'm sure all of you have heard of Twinings,the tea brand which we often see in the cafes. They are based in Andover, Hampshire, England. Thomas Twining, as you can see from his name,is the founder of Twinings and had opened the first known tea room on the Strand in London, in 1706. Till date,it is still operating. The very same shop has been standing since back then till now,a very short in height store and can go a long way back,whether in history or literally.

Having 300 years of history and being one of the first companies to introduce tea drinking to the British,Queen Victoria had granted Twinings its first Royal Warrant for tea,Twinings as supplier of teas to her household.

Stephen Twinings,the 10th generation member of the famous tea family who's on his Southeast Asian tour had made a stop over in Singapore to share his passion for tea and showcase the way to perfect the art of tea blending and brewing. Along the way,he shared a brief and interesting history of tea and insights on how Twinings has evolved since 1706. Much has been done by Twinings to ensure that they continue to maintain the best of quality of tea that they provide.

Twinings tea is now enjoyed in 115 countries globally, with nearly 250 blends to its name from contemporary fruit infusions and herbal teas to its most popular blends: English Breakfast and the world-famous Earl Grey - made specially for Charles Grey, the second Prime Minister of England.

So here we go:

Did you know?
Back in those days,porcelain imported from China to England were expensive and they thought,such fragile porcelain would surely break if they pour hot water inside. So they added a bit of milk at the bottom to cool down the temperature before pouring tea in. So this was how adding milk to tea came about!

As many would compare teas like how they compare wine,the light-flavoured ones should always go with light snacks. Whatever dessert that you enjoy eating!

Twinings Mint Cooler
Not all teas are hot. This is ice tea,made with the finest peppermint leaves. A perfect drink especially after dinner,soothes your stomach. Best if you add some honey or sugar inside,don't say I didn't warn you!

Earl Grey,a black tea. Refreshing and a unique floral aroma which I very much enjoy. Truly,the best I liked out of the 3 teas that I have tried.

Needless to say,a tea strainer. That day,they were using loose leaves. No difference between packet or loose leaves actually,they're pretty much the same.

With a sense of humor as I asked for a photo with him,he picked up a tea pot and offered me a cuppa tea!

Fruit & Herbal Infusion.
A packet would do. Let it sit in for 3-5min of hot water to bring out the flavours,best go with a dash of honey! Alternatively for our hot weathers,serve it with ice instead.

Up close,tins of tea whom I presume to be loose leaves. Clarence was telling me that their Darjeeling Tea is good,I think I shall have a go at it one of these days!

This tea was specially blended for the Royal Wedding on the 29th of April 2011. As Pete took the time out to explain to me,if I didn't remember wrongly,this is a limited edition pack.

Well,as the workshop comes to an end,I have gained insights and more knowledge on making a good cuppa tea right from the man himself,Mr Stephen Twining. Before we left,he specially prepared a box of tea for all of us!

Hees,he autographed it himself. After the rest had left,Jermaine,Verlyn and I stayed behind to asked if he could write in our names as well. Which he agreed,wheeee! So that's why,this box has got my name. Happy much! With a sweet scent of aroma,ME LOVES! :D

Swan Lake on Ice in Singapore

Imma huge fan of musicals and caught Phantom of the Opera when they came to Singapore back then in 2006. I do remember a romantic candle-light dinner and catching the awesome show with that live Symphonic band performance.... Ah. That's a story for another day.
Anyway,the world's premier theatrical ice skating company, The Imperial Ice Stars,was in Singapore to perform their award-winning masterpiece Swan Lake on Ice.

DO YOU THINK I'M GONNA MISS THAT?!

I was,actually,until I read the news and was pretty impressed by what was written. Looking for someone to watch with me wasn't easy but fortunately. Someone was spontaneous enough to join me for this. So,we booked the tickets just 29 hours before we were suppose to watch the show.

Yeah,yeah. Whatever. The concert hall wasn't even full and from where we were sitted at,there was a phantom burning smell in the air which only my partner for the night and some random stranger beside me could smell it.
Random stranger's description: Yeah,I can smell it too. Like something's gonna EXPLODE.

Geeeee. Thanks ladaye,that's the last thing I ever wanna hear before a show begins.

Wanna watch it? Too bad,it's over! They were here only from 30 Aug 2011 to 04 Sep 2011. Truly,a graceful and outstanding they were. Plenty of ice-skating stunts/moves/whatever you call it can be expected.

I had a fantastic night,from the show to having dinner at TWG which the cute french manager gave us some recommendation for a good cuppa tea. AWESOME NIGHT SPENT!

Now,the next musical that I know is coming to Singapore is Wicked. No no. Wicked,THE musical. Wicked. Which will be performed Marina Bay Sands' Grand Theater.

Personally,I would rate this movie 4 stars against 5. This is a wonderful and hilarious movie which Sihui and I had thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thank you so much OMY for the tickets! Like a seeming spoof of James Bond's movies,there were not much explosions or kick-ass stunts in this movie but ingenious tactics to tackle the bad guys. Rowan Atkinson or who we call,Mr Bean,is the perfect role for this movie. His comical character is still there,though more wrinkles are seen on his face. Definitely a must-watch for everyone,you will be bound to laugh your way throughout the movie!

As the saying goes,the older the actors get,the sexier they are.
This goes out especially for male actors.

Ohhhh yes,Rowan Atkinson is much more charismatic than he was in his younger days.

Confidence is the best gift ever.

Remember the sweet little cupcakes I was telling you in my previous 2 entries? Well,here are the cupcakes that my friends and I have been sampling! These are baked by Lace Zhang. Yes,her name is Lace. Isn't it sweet? So therefore,her very own brand's name is also followed by her name,Lace.

About Baked by Lace Cupcakes:

"The cupcakes are meant to be consumed at room temperature (butter hardens in the fridge..) and will hold up in our SG weather for 2-3 days without spoiling. They won't melt too! =) Basically, I spent the entire of my first year in university experimenting with baking (always had an interest in food!) and I would bake up batch after batch of cupcakes (and secretly throw away the failed ones at night!) until I perfected it. Cause I've eaten many dry/subpar ones outside. A cupcake has to be light, fluffy, moist (not gummy!) and to do so, there has to be the perfect ratio of leavening agents. Too much, the cake will leave a bad aftertaste and too little, there won't be any rise (and hence, tenderness).

The true test of a good cake batter is the texture of the cake after it's cooled down from the oven. Many cakes can taste softer warmed, which is why many places outside re-heat their cakes for awhile before serving it! I also use only premium ingredients for the flavours to shine through and everything is hand made- from lemon curds to caramels etc. I use only fresh fruit purees, valrhona cocoa, philadelphia cream cheese, and real vanilla beans!"

Her cupcakes were baked using top-notch ingredients. And right from scratch. When she says chocolate,she literally melt the chocolate. Not some pre-made whipcream style which can be bought from the supermarket. Lace's popular flavours are:
Red Velvet, Salted caramel, peanut butter chocolate, nutella, devil's food, cookies n cream, Espresso, Baileys
It costs $3 per cupcake and orders can be made with a minimum of 15 cupcakes. she does conduct bake sales regularly with a collection point near her school at Raffles City (typically, once-twice a week). During these bake sales, there are no minimum orders & she will announce the details/flavours available on the facebook page.

Celebration of close friends' birthday

I had fun last saturday celebrating my close friends' birthday.

We went to catch "Bad Teacher" movie at Plaza Singapura,acted mainly by:
Yeap,Cameron Diaz,Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel. It's a M18 movie,quite sick and hilarious at the same time. It however totally changed my point of view about Justin Timberlake and makes me feel sick about him. Wanna know why? Go watch. I will only rate this movie as 2.5-3 against 5 stars.

I love my outfit for the day,friend picked it for me as a gift. Good taste in fashion.

Took a train down to Orchard ION and slowly shop our way down to Cineleisure. That day was also the day of Swarovski's Hello Kitty Launch in Singapore! Have you guys seen them? It's all so sweet and cute! I'm in love with them,but nothing that's so fantastic that I will actually go and buy them. The pen maybe,I can use it in school.

Secretly sneaking off to The Coffee Bean while Chu Xuan and Cheryl are shopping at Forever21. Marcus and I made birthday cards for them,this is marcus looking so focused!

Fetching Si Hui off her work place,we then went to Marche for dinner. It was a long queue but surprisingly,we only waited for 15min before we got a seat. While queueing,we can't help but laughed at the jokes we made. Being classmates for several years,we didn't know that Marcus has a secret 'talent'! Hahaha!

Pizza. And the fillings that Cheryl & Si Hui don't eat.

Cheryl refused to show her face throughout the celebration,what a spoiler! 1 slice of cake,it's enough because we usually don't eat that much anyway. Thank god,Marche has got candles!

Made birthday cards for all 3 of them,cause the last time we celebrated for Si Hui at USS,I didn't made her any. Circles,they aren't the conventional birthday cards that will be chucked aside.

A day of fun out here in town,a simple celebration that makes everyone happy.
Took a train back together with them and went off to meet someone else.

Enough said,can you see the altruistic happiness written all over the face?
A genuine happiness.

I'm going to be more hard working in all aspects,be it on my blog or my studies.

Can you imagine,the amount of sleep-less nights that I'm going to spent,scouring over textbooks and comprehending/memorising all those information in preparation for the major exams that's about to come in a coupele of months' time?

And on my blog,I shall provide more insights to life. Information on lifestyle activites,movies and places to go.

Indulge in Life.

That's my motto. While Friday is due to arrive and a school holiday for all primary and secondary school students,let us sit back and take a breather. Have a cuppa coffee and spend some time with your loved ones.

As what I mention above,I vow to succeed and do what I said.
Let the non-believers revel in shock when the time comes that I achieve!

A slow Saturday afternoon

Thank god it's friday!

How are you guys going to spend your evening?
It's a long weekend for some of us too,thanks to the Presidential Election. Well,as for me,I'm going to spend some quiet moment with my loved ones. You guys should too,it's not every time where we all actually slow down our pace and show some concern for the people around us.

Remember last saturday where I had 2 egg yolk in an egg and was wondering if it means that I will be lucky? Well,lucky or not,it doesn't matter. Because I didn't eat the egg,haha! As I was rushing out,I didn't had enough time to eat it. But a slow saturday afternoon it was,I had another late lunch at Boon Tong Kee.
It was my second time there,the first time was when Ben brought me there like few years back. The rice was interestingly,in a pyramid shape. But it was fine,the taste's so-so only. Whereas the chicken was much better,much more tender and juicy. Yums!

I like my bag. Actually,I like bags. Haha! Pretty little thing,isn't it? :)

It was a slow afternoon,I'm out running about. Met some friends and we had cupcakes.

I'm going to tell you more about the cupcakes next time.
I had several exams held over the past few days. Thankfully a 2-week break before more exams come. I'm fretting about a lot of things,that needs to be done and that needs my attention.

Lucky egg?

Would today be my lucky day?
Look what I have got:
2 egg yolks in a small egg!
I was cooking instant noodle for brunch,and its the last egg in the fridge some more! It's my first time in life encountering that. Does this mean that I will be lucky? I sure hope so! Then here comes an interesting question:

2 egg yolks in an egg = twin chicks in an egg?

Oh my,who can answer my question? It must be very squeezy if really,its twin chicks. Would that be interesting? Hahahaha! Food for thought,isn't it? Hehe! :D

The best person to talk to when you are feeling down are probably your friends,
friends who can understand you. It is probably time to publish this post too. As one of my major exams just ended (1 more major trial exams before we reach the finale),I did quite badly. Really.

This isn't funny anymore,not that its even funny to begin with.

As back then,I remember having this conversation with John about how bad my results were. Definitely one would feel demoralised. Though I must say,these exams that I had taken,I didn't gave my 100% effort,it's still quite demoralising to see myself failing. I failed to see the other side of the picture. But surprisingly not (as he always does see things from all different pov),he did.
Well,it felt much better though. I must admit,that's quite true. 50% more may be seem quite a lot,but its easier to see that improvement and hunt down the marks than those who's got like 15%. Not sure if you guys even know what I mean but,whatever.

I hope you guys who didn't do well in whatever you are doing,will feel much better about yourself. Cause the same logic applies. Once you put in the effort,the results of your improvement is much greater than those that's already been up there all along.

I feel much much more motivated to strive harder for the next major exams that's coming next week

Still busy with studies lately,and this will go on until the end of the year where I will look forward to having fun. But I will never fail to take time out to have dinner or supper with my close friends. Especially these 2,my love. Pardon me,I look really tired but whatever.

Having dinner at Nihon Mura,my favourite. I have occasional cravings for ramen but I absolutely love salmon. My favourite which I will never fail to order them each time I come to Nihon Mura.

And after buzzing around busy like a bee,I head off to meet John for some shopping and dinner. I'm very happy to see him back here,though it will be soon before he leaves again. Nevertheless,a day well spent. Or should I say,a few hours.

He's gotten his camera stuff while I get what I had been eyeing for a long time:
Tennis racquets! Woohoo,I can't wait to use them.
We then settle at TCC for some drinks before heading off to Cityhall to meet the rest for dinner. It's just some good laughter,catching up and so on. One of the kind of friends whom you will never run out of topics with :)

Singapore Blog Awards 2011

My exams are finally over!
Or at least for now,gotta go back to school still. Collect results and continue for the next exams coming in September.
So here we go,in the blogging community,we have the Singapore Blog Awards happening last Saturday at Shanghai Dolly. Never win any awards,but I was nevertheless proud to be one of the finalists. It's good enough for me,totally love the community and all the people I meet!

Guest of honour for the day was Major-General Mr Chan Chun Sing.
There were close to 300 bloggers that day,many whom I know and some finally met on that day. But still,a pity that I didn't take more pictures that day.

The ceremony proceeded very fast. Soon,all the winners of the categories were announced and were on-stage for photo-taking. Congrats to all of them,and also to some of my friends who won! There was a skit done on that day,but my shitty compact camera (didn't bring my dslr out) doesn't take nice photos in dark places.

Hello!
I haven't been updating this space for a very long time due to my busy schedule. Major exams coming up,gotta study really hard to prove myself you know. But once in a long while,I shouldn't stop myself from having fun,should I?

I was very much looking forward to one of The Cousins* birthday...

Knowing she is an avid fan of Mickey & Minnie Mouse,she had put in a lot of effort to prepare her birthday party! The theme was mickey and minnie mouse,so we were suppose to dress up too.
Uber huge mickey mouse balloon greeted us when we entered the room.

I was very surprise at the extra mile she went just to make sure everyone enjoys themself at her party. LOOK AT THE FOOD AND SOFT DRINKS!
Yes,balloons that everyone helped to blew up too! Everything was painstakingly done up,printing of the our names on mickey mouse cards and labels. Every single thing made from scratch. So much effort put in,isn't it?

While waiting for everyone to arrive,we all played Cluedo. Oh,you have no idea. We all were scribbling like hell and making clues to guess the murderer. Yes,if you are smart,you can guess who is holding onto what cards and finally guess the murderer. Smart,LIKE ME!
Cause I won once,or twice? I can't remember. HAHAHAHA!

Know why is his expression like that? Cause he kena squeeze into the toilet to eat! LOL,even the toilet is very nice. Checkered tiles but the door's erm,kinda see through. It will sometimes slide itself open too,so you gotta actually someone to guard the door for you. Otherwise....

Nevertheless,a fun-filled night. I doze off to sleep at dawn,woke up several times to find the rest still up doing different things. I think one of those times,they talking about ghost stories. Like Genting,then someone was going "Yalor yalor! I heard that one level is totally isolated blah blah blah." HA! Seriously,it was a really fun party.

Checked out in the morning and headed to Mcdonald's for breakfast before going home.

Let my enthusiasm and optimism be the team's constant dose to orchestrate their creativity,imagination into real-life projections!

Why oh why?
You see,this competition is about these participating teams. It's not about me,it's about them and their passion for animation,ideas of total defence. What I am there for,is to encourage them and give them ideas/tips when they got stuck. In my idea of being the N.E.mation ambassador,I'm going to be there to help them. Like a host to a competion! Not that I'm the judge of course,but something more like a middle man sort of thing.

How's your day? Exciting? Boring? Well,it sure can't be as crazy as mine. To stay back in school and only reach home around evening time. My family would some times come back around this time and nobody has cooked dinner! Being in a good mood,the best choice would be?
To order delivery once in awhile and avoid the long queues at the restaurants!

PIZZA DELIVERY!
Yes,Domino's have a reputation around the world for their delivery of pizza within 30 minutes. Depending on the country,sometimes it may be up to 1 hour as well. But once they exceed what they promised you,you can be sure that they will make it up to you with another regular size pizza.

So last week,I was invited to go for food tasting at Domino's.

who's the Chief Operating officer of Domino's Pizza in Singapore and Malaysia.

Here's when I knew more about the background of Domino's pizza,where they have been operating for more than 50 years now. It began in the States and now,they are expanding more and more outlets.

The launch of the new pizza crust:
New Cheese Burst Crust
This thin crust with cheddar cheese sauce oozing out is the newest addition to the 3 crusts that is already on the menu. Cheese lovers should try this!

Giving us a demo on how the online delivery actually works,the pizzas will be made and 'delivered' to the store. Which actually means that the store that we're in will make the pizzas and serve it to our table.

So in the mean time,our actual dinner arrives first. We can decide what to do with the demo ones later.

The amazing thing is that you can actually track your order and see what stage is your pizza at on the process of getting delivered to your place! So the pizza we order earlier on is being delivered now. Brought out,hand out to us.

After our pizza dinner,we were actually brought to the kitchen in groups of 4 and actually allowed to tried making pizza! Here's the ones where we made for ourselves:

It's really amazing I tell you,I don't really think everyone has a chance everyday to get in there and try making a pizza themselves. The dough they used are right out of the freezer,plus it takes A LOT of skills to make the base of the pizza. Nevertheless,the bases we made are of course out of shape.
Then we learnt how to put the sauce,and the right amount of ingredients on it. So envious of William,his has got prawns in it! Mine's just the usuals of my favorite food. Which means all meat and no veggies,hee! :P

Made by Yours Truly,which I brought home and my family said that they were delicious. OF COURSE,I MADE IT. HELLO~
The awesome crew who came out and did a cheer for us. Not only that,they were the ones who taught me how to bake my pizza. I nearly destroyed my own pizza by NEARLY letting it slip onto the floor. WHEW. But I sure screamed loudly,so embarrassing.

What if you only have 5 minutes to live?

Someone asked me before,why would I have no regrets if I were to die now? It was due to a tweet where I tweeted about nurses witnessing top 5 regrets people say aloud on their deathbed. My answer would be:
I have already lived my life to the fullest.

Was there any bad situations in my life? Definitely,I have been through ones that you can never imagine. But that's another story for another day. I guess I'm pretty optimistic!

So now,would you regret if you were to die now? How about putting yourself in the shoes of someone who's about to die in 5 minutes time. What would you do within this 5 minutes?

I was down at Scape with The Cousins* at Scape. While Andy and I are the 2 of the 4 bloggers in the Creative Sandwich Making contest,Jing Long and Joyce were helpers at the event. It was very fun interacting with the public and I met so many familiar faces there. Everyone had shown their support for this event!

As mentioned in the previous post,this was a blogger-initiated event which was presented by HTC Singapore and supported by omy.sg, Singapore’s leading news and entertainment web portal by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH).

The event was held at Scape building 1st level.

They provided a stage for everyone who would like to perform. All the singers there were so good! I'm so envious of them. I thought of performing too,but I can't sing and haven't been practising on my guzheng long enough to do a performance.

Next up,the Creative Sandwich-making Contest!
I think 4 is a good size,the public were invited to participate and its only open to 4 slots. I was paired up with this guy called Arthur (which later then I knew,he was the blog shop owner of the soft toys you see above!)

Limited ingredients but thank goodness,we were allowed to exchange with others!
I gotten the one with luncheon meat,cheese and tomato sauce.

I had no idea what to do and was getting a little worried when Arthur says he's got no idea either! He did mention about using the sauce to make the "So Me!" wordings in relations to the Singapore Social Media Day. Staring at the luncheon meat,tadah! I thought of carving out the twitter bird logo! The biggest credit goes to Arthur,he made the branches and leaves look so nice while I carved the bird and put cucumber slices on it to make it look like a bird.

A perfect postcard-like scenery in Australia

Remember seeing all those postcards that your relatives or friends sent you from overseas? And knowing in your heart that they are all photoshopped,colour-enhanced sceneries? Well,so do I. Until I finally stepped into Wollongong.

Wollongong? Eeeee... So boring. Look at this,nothing interesting. Huh,okay lor. Just like that lor.

Wollongong was my second last stop in my entire 2 week trip in Australia. I bet most people haven't even heard of this place. Me neither,until I know a friend who's been staying there for many years. I used to ask him why did he chose such a remote area and not cities like Brisbane,Sydney or Melbourne. And he said that it's a beautiful place to stay in.

Yes,right from my very own D90. They have got 2 light houses there. Amazingly,all the boats are pointing towards the opening to the sea. I can now imagine,it must be a bliss to stay there.

I'm very enthusiastic about coming here because I can finally see where my good friend's staying at and what's the rave about here. So I actually went to google and found Wollongong on twitter! Some nice people behind the screen has kindly answered my millions of questions about Wollongong. And they recommended me to check out the rock pool!
And here's the rock pool:
Oh yeahhhhh. The rock pools.
Pretty much for you to sit in there,in the sea water and bask in the sun without getting washed out into the ocean. There must be thousands of cute little barnacles on the rocks and other sea life creatures in there,like corals. Many things to observe and learn,something out of the classroom. Like a city-girl who's never been into the wilderness before (you know there's not much wilderness here in Singapore),I go Ooh-ing, Ahh-ing and 'LOOK LOOK!' at everything in the rock pool.

I did take pictures of them,except that I lost them.
Hmmm,very much a pity :(
Then they have this outdoor swimming pool as well. Kinda lame if you ask me,because they already have the rock pool. Who knows? Maybe some people like to sun bath but with clean water? -shrugs-

It was a perfect weather to sunbathe. As I went during November,I believe it was Spring for them. Weather's still pretty cold with the wind but you can definitely get a sun burn if you stay out for too long.

Alright,here's on what to eat:
Hot Chilli Food House!
No,I'm not kidding you. Here's the link to their review of the restaurant. Arriving cold and hungry,the pizza tastes heavenly. Alternatively,you can sit by the beach and order seafood from this Seafood Cafe called LeVendi that's seated right next to Wollongong Beach.
Go for the Harbour Pack if you can. The price is about $30AUD if I'm not mistaken. Worthwhile and offers a variety of bite-size seafood like dory fish and squid.
Plenty of seagulls flying around the area waiting for food. You gotta keep an eye on them(your food!) or they will swop down and steal them!

Here's the night scenery I tried taking. Just as John had advised me to wear something thick to keep myself warm.

A very very romantic place for couples to take a night stroll along the beach.

Very much,I enjoyed my few days stay there. Thanks to John for taking the time to show me around. No,it's not a shopping paradise either but there are malls to walk around. Have I mentioned that they actually have free shuttle buses around the town? As what John told me,if I remembered correctly,they did so in effort to encourage people take public transport than driving. A very good effort,I think. Even John says so too. Not many Singaporeans actually lived there,but there are a few.

Wollongong is a beautiful place more for people who would like to lead a comfortable and relax life. I can now understand why John wants to stay there and why,I would definitely be back to visit Wollongong!

My very first take on time-lapsed photography:

Melting ice

There is much much more that I can do to improve this of course,but overall I think I did a pretty good job. Taken during evening (7pm - 7.15pm) over a range of 15 minutes,5s interval on my trusty D90.
My improvement areas would be actually putting it on a tripod and getting a wireless shutter than sitting it on a ceramic counter. Oh yes,and using M mode instead of Non-Flash mode so as to create a better balance.

I was very much inspired by the video above. Checked with a few of my photographer friends,they said it's near impossible to do this in Singapore. Oh well,I better do more melting-ice images to hone my time-lapse photography skills before I go to Alaska. It would be a pity if I go there and miss my opportunity to capture the beautiful milky way that can be seen over there.

I must say,this really trains my patience. Staring at the clock seem to slow down time,but I love the images that turned out at the end. I can very well imagine myself in Alaska,sitting down with a cup of hot chocolate to keep myself warm,clicking away the shutter button while admiring the stars.

Just a couple weeks back,I was invited to the new Singapore Flyer Lounge,the home of award-winning cocktails. Excited,as I had recently turned 18 and this will be the very first time I'm sampling alcoholic drinks at a legal age! -winks- Indeed,I was not disappointed. 3rd time I came here,all to attend events. But I am never tired of going up the Flyer. Up,up we go!

They had used the authentic recipe which was first made in 1917,I think. What most other hotels had used in their recipe was the switch in the 1960s or 70s. But anyways. Enjoying a drink at the top,with a city view of Singapore in sight and good friends for company,what more can I ask for?

The bunch of us had fun sipping the drinks,savouring every bit of what Luke has made for us. Small talks,laughters and jokes engulfs the capsule.

Wait,there's more to come. It's not just enjoying a drink in the capsule. Let's have a look at the Lounge.
Yes,far in sight is the newly opened Art-Science Museum.
The lounge provides a cozy setting with warm colours and lightings to chill at. Perfecto,even the seats are so comfortable that you wouldn't wanna get your ass off it!

Even the glasses are branded with Singapore Lounge logo!
A tad distasteful,but I'm imagining that any kiasu idiots who tries to steal one of these home would really be quite an... Idiot.

Luke showing us how he mix the drinks. He taught us to start with the cheapest alcohol first. Which I have got no idea why but he says that he's going to skip all the necessary steps and just mix everything together.

This is the award-winning drink of 2009,called the Highland Cigar. Note how the chocolate stick is placed on the drink like cigar? Yeah. I would say this is a bit strong. Like how the name itself,its a bit 'rough' for a lady liking. A drink beautifully done by Mr Russel Chen,its mixed with Johnnie Walker Black Label, Bols Crème de Casis, Oolong Tea, Monin Spicy Mango and Apple Juice. Yes,Oolong Tea. Surprise? Hehe. It's $18 per glass,but definitely worth the bucks.

Up next,we have Miss Alice Nies mixing her very own drink which won in the year of 1992.
Here is A Lady's Dream. Cute,soothing. Also $18 per glass,it contains Malibu, Archers Peach Schnapps, Bols Grenadine, Grapefruit Juice, Pineapple Juice. Seeing a lady mixing the drinks with such swagger really blows my mind,changing my impression that bartending is not a job only for the males.

This is my favorite drink actually,so light,so smooth and refreshing from any others that I have sipped. I will definitely come back again for this one. But I forgot it's name. LOL.

Highland Cigar, A Lady's Dream, Dolphine Fantasy, Purple Dream and Lovers' Bridge.

I haven't been blogging about The Cousins* for quite some time,but that doesn't mean that we haven't been hanging out! I always don't bring that bulky DSLR out,so I'm relying very much on the rest who's got semi-pros or compact cameras to take the photos! This time round,the photos are brought to you by Andy and Joyce.

Last weekend,we did our own things in the afternoon. Some went for shopping,or movies while I met up with YongWei and Calvin to collect somethings. Yongwei actually walked away with a $500 dining voucher at Centrepoint,wowzers! I'm proud of you,Yongwei. Now,I'm waiting for your phone call to give me the treat as well! =P

Finally,we all met up at Astons for dinner.
Which never fail to have a whole big crowd queuing outside! But it was never bored waiting for our turn. Because the Cousins* will never run out of things to talk about! After being seated,we proceeded to order. And here's Joyce and Jing Long:

Dory fish with mash potato and rice. I always end up falling back to eating what I'm familiar with. Mad insane,I tell you. Just about 1.5 hour before I ate this,I had late lunch of Ibi Udon and a big plate of Sashimi at Nihon Mura! Call me a girl with the scary appetite... By the way,I'm considered as severely underweight in my report book. Suck it up,bitch!

Andy bought this Tumbler and his Strawberries & Cream drink. It's a tall,comes free when you bought the $15.90 tumbler! I was VERY tempted to buy it as well because you can actually customize the tumbler! I think it would be very sweet to put your bf/gf's picture inside and drink from the tumbler ♥ Kinda give you the motivation to study,or whatever you are doing!

Jiaqi and Jinglong went back,while Andy,Joyce and I made an impromptu decision catch a midnight movie. It was fantastic,I LOVE midnight movies!
Sitting at Plaza Sing's Starbucks,the cinemas in town for 'Hangover II' was full house! We finally were able to book 3 seats at Suntec.
Walked all the way to Suntec,with a long long kinda.. Heart-2-heart talk. How interesting,like I say,we never run out of things to talk about ;)
The movie was DAMN funny,I kept laughing throughout. Some epic scenes and epiphany making the leads gawk were the funny moments!
Finally home at 2am,bathed and slept at 3am.

And the weekend ended just like that. I'm looking forward to this weekend. I wonder if we would meet. Even if we didn't,there's always the next to come!

A series of unfortunate events

Okay,initially I didn't wanna blog about this but I figured out that I must be fucking suay to have the series of unfortunate event that followed soon after.

First of all,at the start of June,I had my practical exam for cooking. I was getting started and opening the metal can. Then I pulled it too quick,too fast,that I accidentally cut my finger. More like sliced,hohoho. Not funny,I had a shock at the amount of blood that was flowing out.

Okay,told me teacher and she wanted to give me a plaster. Then she saw the amount of blood that was flowing out. Yeap,didn't stop bleeding. Then there ice and pressure on the fucking wound to try and stop the bleeding. Then I felt faint,couldn't see a single shit and puked. Could hear everyone around me but I can't see shit! Only darkness. I can hear everyone around me and them telling Wynn to carry me into the room,which she did. Thank you so much for that. Zijun was then telling me on twitter that my face look damn white,like A4 paper. LOL,I can't imagine.

Anyway,got my tetanus jab which I was so reluctant to take. The doctor at the neighbourhood clinic said its just a small cut and my body merely went through shock. Hence the reaction. Damn her,I hate it when doctors misdiagnose my condition. I look at my wound and knew that it as like a bloody hole there. She said it didn't need stitching,only bandaged it up.

The next day.
I was going out of the house and my dog tried to bit my finger. Being irritated,I rush into the house to spank him. And here's when I went too fast,missed my footing and banged my jaw against the table corner. OUCH!

When I got out from the house and went downstairs,I realised that my wound was bleeding again. And it's soaking through the bandage!
Waited to see my neighbourhood doctor,who said that its a gaping wound and that I should go to the hospital for stitching. Because it occured more than 24 hours ago,he was afraid that I might get infection. Great,Singapore General Hospital,here I come.

Paid another whooping $90 for the whole consultation and procedure to be done.
Cried like a baby the moment the doctor injected painkillers onto my tiny little finger. No,seriously. I wailed so loud that my friend who was waiting outside,said that everyone outside looked shock and looked at the procedure doors. Gosh.. Embarressing.

My stitches looked something like that. About half the length of this.

The injury I had on my body now is a bandaged right little finger. Which the doctor gave me an MC for 8 days. COOL. And bruising around the area of my injection,left arm. And bruising on my left jaw. Thank god it didn't swell.

I decided to rent a couple of movies to keep my sanity going,haven't caught a movie in a long long while. Rented "PS. I Love You" ," Yes Man" and again, "Phantom of the Opera". Such wonderful shows that my friends has been telling me to go watch it but I just never got around doing it. I'm currently using my brother's desktop and stumbled upon a song which I found to be beautiful.

We are all entitled to our own thoughts.
And occasionally,I would just miss my ex. You know,don't love him anymore. But just miss him,you know. The times that we spent together. Spending our afternoon shopping,going around to eat good food. Or something as simple as cooking a bowl of instant ramen for each other.
Listening to music,appreciating them. Or a stormy night where we both snuggle in bed to watch movies on the television before turning in,for work or for school the next day.

~~Definitely,I don't miss the part about cleaning up his room.~~

They are fond memories,lovely times that make me reminisce.
But they are getting vague,they are fading away. I'm slowly forgetting them bit by bit,cause it's been a few years. Funny how we both sometimes look back and think that it's a pity. But still,it's never possible to go back to the way we were before.

Regardless of the past,I hope that you are happy with whatever that you are doing.
Don't worry,dearest Garfield. I may have forgotten most of the times we spent together,but I sure do remember one thing.

On May 16th,it's my birthday. And on that day,I'm a year older. A year older meaning that I have to wise up and grow some sense. I just need to finish what I need to do now. I may dream,and I'm in the midst of the pursuit to my happiness.

I'm thankful for the loved ones around me,and all people who came into my life.

I'm very,very happy to spend my birthday with my family and close friends. People whom I like to be with. Thank you guys for giving me such a wonderful time and creating special memories for me to remember,always.

AFTER I FINISH MY EXAMS.

I can't help but worry about studies,about my party whether it's going to turn out well. And some other minor minor things that frustrate me everyday. There's no definite answers in life,all we can do is to wait and see if it's worth the wait.True?

Oh well,I have to try and stay positive. Happy. Optimistic. Don't I? Have faith,darlings,have faith.

A day out at Marina Barrage with the Cousins*!

10 months back,the cousins* were at Marina Barrage having a picnic.

10 months later,we are back here to have a picnic! It's so hard to gather everyone but nonetheless,most of us turned up. I'm happy enough!

Food! -screams- We usually ended up buying/bringing too much food that we had to throw them away after the picnic. Fruits were brought by Andy,he cut them the night before with the help of his friends. As you can see,the green apples had already oxidised! Sandwiches were lovingly made by Joyce and dearest Jia Qi brought her chocolate fondue. Don brought the picnic mats,otherwise we would be sitting on the grass. Omfg,look at the yellow cheese that Jing Long brought along! Everyone's loving it!

Just a random note,nearly all of us have polaroids. Of course,what you see here isn't a complete family yet. So yes,we all do get a fantastic deal when buying the films! It's obvious as to which one is mine! ;)

And windy. After flying the kites,we all played indian poker. Since there's so much food left anyway.

Sitting in the hotel room with a big tee,staring out and thinking about things. That's what I would usually do,if I'm travelling overseas. Sigh,I would definitely love to travel overseas. What I have in mind now is Paris again.
Talking about that Paris,its magnificence and mystique does not lie in Louvre or Eiffel Tower. The beauty lies within the picturesque streets; To walk on it,feel the breeze and bask in the atmosphere of Paris.

Having fun in Beijing: Day 2

And here we are at Day 2!
It's time to go out and walkabout :D

My outfit for the day.
Took pics of myself while waiting for my mom and bro to get ready. Finally had a chance to wear these UGG boughts that I bought in Australia last November. They are so soft inside! Made of sheepskin and fur on the insides,awww!

It's a bustling street with many tourist and local alike,most of them holding sticks and sticks of mutton! -screams- However,right after I walk through the signboard that you see,I had a shock of my life by what greeted me.

And it's MOVING!!! ZOMG. I had chills after looking at that,almost fainted.

Worse,if you realise,mutton sticks were actually sold from the same store! I dare not buy any mutton sticks to eat,cause most likely 99.9% they are fried in the same oil as these creepy crawlies! And no,I haven't seen anyone walking around eating them.

After walking the entire food street,all these below can be found everywhere in the street.

Uber huge roaches, sea urchins, centipede/millipede (whichever way!) ,crab and some sort of weird lizard. Oh,and starfish! Hungry,but definitely not going to have these for lunch. Went on further and found a small shop.

Mutton!
Cheap,but not as cheap as the one we had the night before. This is about 2x the price.

Quite cute,wanted to do one too. But on second thought,the handicraft don't look that good.

Finally,my bro and I bought this bottle to try. Cause it's sold everywhere and I'm curious as to what it is.
Suan niu nai. Sour milk is the direct translation. Actually,its yoghurt. Just that,don't they have a better name in chinese for this?! In my opinion,this taste much nicer than the yoghurt that I usually have. It's clumpy and creamy,sour and but with a hint of nectar as well :D

Kinda abrupt,but I shall end my post here on Wangfujing street. Next up would be the Imperial Palace! Or is there like a special name for it? I'm not sure. Anyway,stay tuned. It's going to be a long one!

Having fun in Beijing: Day 1

My Beijing trip

I finally got my ass up to do this trip which happened almost a month ago! Gosh,time flies. I miss the cold weather there,can't wait to go back to somewhere cold. Next trip's planning is already in progress,stay tuned! ;) Meanwhile,the beijing trip!

It was quite a dilemma as to whether I should go or not,as I have got quite a few commitments here. Hardly does the whole family get to travel together,so I decided to go in the end.

ZOMG,I got my ticket 9 hours before I'm due to fly!

Anyway,I chose a different flight for 2 reasons. 1st,the same flight has got no more seats. 2nd,since the whole family is travelling together,you'll be kinda scared if something happens and the whole family dies right? -choy ga lei,touch wood!- But yeah,different flight it is. Finally,at the hotel in the evening...

There was still a bit of time left,so we went out in search for food! We wanted those kind of small,hidden but delicious food. But none could be found,they were expensive and were closing. So we just continued walking for a bit and boy,I'm glad we did! We found this little lane where it's all the yummy food!

There,this lane it is. It totally looked like some part of Japan where we always watch in the movies. Even my bro thinks so too.
A whole road down with similar food like duck noodles,noodle this, noodle that. And I realised that they don't sell pork,only mutton,chicken and beef. Mutton is my favourite when I was there. I had like,the best mutton in the world!

A nice warm dinner after shower. Warm food always tastes good,especially when it's like freaking 12 degrees outside. Don't laugh at my eye bags,I'm not putting any make up in this photo. AND. This meal you're looking at cost me freaking!!!

$0.40 for the coke,$1 for the noodles and $1 for 5 sticks of mutton. Gosh,so heavenly. I could feel myself salivating right now as I'm typing this. Annoyingly,they don't serve ice. I can't get the maximum shiokness of the coke. Oh wells. Mutton was good,noodles and the soup were even BETTER.

After the dinner,it's time to go back and get some rest for a full day tomorrow. I shall end my post here for now,of day 1. Wait for day 2 alright? And guess what,

I wore a flimsy pair of shorts out for dinner in this cold weather!

On hiatus

Realised that it has been more than 2 weeks since I last blogged.
I have been deluding myself these days that it was only a few days since I last blogged. Well,now I just realised. I don't know how long would I abandon this blog again,but just know that I'm very busy with my studies now. Getting more and more hard working,with tuition and trying my best to be consistant in staying back after school until 5? 6? 7?
I'm keeping up.

A lot has happened these days,mainly sad things.
My emotions are overwhelming,sometimes I even feel like breaking down. But I didn't. I'm still hanging in there,though my prayers hasn't been answered. I have been taking care of myself and do enjoy my independence very much.
But then again,sometimes it's good to have someone taking care of you for a change.

A beautiful sunset to remember...

I feel really blessed to have all my friends around me,encouraging me and telling me to hang in there.
But who's going to stay here for long with me?

I don't know how long more can I last with all this. I'm not well,but not ill either. It won't be long before I fall. Please bless me with not just will and strength to move on,but for my life to turn better as well. There's no work,studying is so tiring but I can't quit; and my personal life hasn't been exactly well all along.

So please,bless me. I'm looking at you with pleading eyes and wishing with all my heart. That time will run fast like it's a champion,and for all this to be over soon.

PS. I know it sounds kinda stupid for me to say out what I think about here. But I think I will be making my way down to pray. It seemed like a long time since I last went.

I love playing mahjong!

Just a couple weeks ago,I finally satisfy my craving by playing at Ven's place! We have got Mike,Mel,Ven and myself. It was one slow round,playing $0.20-$0.40. All 3 of us ended up losing to Ven thanks to her 4 tai at the last minute! Hahaha,we didn't lose much. Just a few cents to $1 nia.

Anyway,something strange happened? I wouldn't know how to say it but just as the game reached 'nan' (south),and it was my turn to be the 'zhuang',there was 2 missing tiles. We couldn't understand why and turn out everything. We ended up finding the 2 missing tiles (7 wan & 8 wan) inside the box which we took the tiles out from at the start of the game. It's just so strange,cause all along the ga me,everything was in order,there were no missing tiles until then.

We could swear that not a single tile dropped on the floor during the game. That's why finding it inside the box again was quite bizarre to us. Hmmm,so what just happened? Who knows. What are the myths or superstitions that you would do to ensure winning? I know some people would wear red underwear for luck,some wouldn't use their phone for concentration. So what would you do? Do comment! :D

How about getting about getting a mahjong tile as an amulet? LOL!

I don't have my own set mahjong or table. And I have been eyeing on the golden coloured Hello Kitty tiles for a long time! The gold one is more special than the pink one lor. I'm not sure if people would bother to come to my house for mahjong,so I didn't buy it. Maybe someone could buy it for my upcoming birthday in May? :P (hint hint!)

This is a show,about Light and Water

A long overdued post! This is about the waterfront show at Marina bay sands.

Ever been there to watch the show? I never knew that there's one,until Jing Long and Jia Qi brought me there. That was a month ago though. The effects were amazing,but the storyline is kinda lame though. It goes with: "This is a story... About light and water..." Then I thought it's going to be some amazing storyline,but oh wells,have a look. Don't know what they are trying to portray.

This is especially,is the best part of the show. Where the light shone at the side,and bubbles of different size floated out. I'm captivated by these bubbles,it would be more amazing if there is some chiobu wearing some chio fluffy dress walking among the bubbles. LOL! I mean,the scene is just really pretty lah.

My freaking weird (or haunted?) experience at Changi Chalet

I have been saying that I want to post this but never got around doing it. Alright,I'm here to talk about my encounter at Changi Chalet. Just a couple weeks ago,it was Yong Wei's birthday.

Yes,the one who is sitting on the chair. What a crazy night it is,people smashing his face into the cake and everyone running around the whole porch in front of it. I could only wish that my birthday,which is coming in 2 month's time,would be as crazy as this. But definitely not weird like what is about to happen later in the night.

The bloggers went off while I'm left with his classmates whom I met for the first time. By now,Yong Wei is dead drunk and lying in the bed. We played the 'drinking game' (fun fun! Should be played on my birthday!) and lots of crazy mixture too.

I got tired around 5am,and lay down in the room with the peeps who were drinking. I didn't go to the next room that is just across ours because there were people sleeping on the beds inside (we had both matresses put on the floor in our room so that more people could sleep on it).

Here. Look at the top floor,we played the games and slept on the second storey,room on the LEFT because people were already sleeping on the bed in the RIGHT room.

The next morning,they woke me up with the bright sun shining through the windows. Feeling tired,I went down to the living room and here is when they ask me:
Why are you in the next room?

I was like,huh? And then I realise. Wait,why did I wake up on the bed in the room on the right when I went to sleep on the floor matress in the left room? Yes,I recalled sleeping on the floor and one of the guys covered the blanket for me. Then I drift off to sleep. How the hell,did I end p sleeping in the next room? On the bed? When previously I had been sleeping on the floor?

What happened?
Apparently,one of the guys told me that 2 of them saw me sleeping alone in the room as the rest had woke up to take the first bus home. I'm not sure by then had dawn approached. So they both went downstairs to get a drink. Then Jacinta asked Daryl where am I,they said in the room. She came up and found no one in the room,freaked out and went back down saying that I'm not in the room. So they both came up and saw that I really wasn't in the room! They went off to the room and found me sleeping on the bed.

Haha,some ghost must have doted on me huh? I know myself well,I'm a light sleeper. I have 2 things,I don't know if it contributes to this bizarre incident. 1st,I'm having my period. 2nd,I mentioned a few ghost stories to spook them before falling asleep.

So,what say you? ;)

BOBO!

He would always always be the first to greet me,eagerly waiting for me at the gate. Stretching out his paw to reach me,welcoming me and my family home.

This little bundle of fun has been a joy (mostly irritationg to my mom cause he pees everywhere) to my family. He's so silly and ill-tempered,that we all have to watch out of him instead of him watching out of us!

Haha! Silly bobo,act cute only. He's so cute,but nobody could guess that he's very ill tempered. Those who came to my house before knows it,he would rush to the gate and bite whoever's leaving the house. Seems like it's a one-way road to my house,there's no leaving it. Muahahaha! One even commented that in fact I'm not keeping a dog,I'm keep a wolf!

My dog sleeps with me every night,at the end of my bed. Every morning as I woke up,turn on the lights,he would blink and look at me sleepily as I change into my uniform. Of course,in order not to disturb him,I would quickly turn off the lights again. And leaving the air con on while he lie on my quilt,knowing that my mom would come and pick him off the bed later after I have left for school.
Dog's life is sometimes far better,such enjoyment of sleeping and eating and enjoying aircon~

Cute cute? Yes,very cute. A devil in disguise!

OverTime,a cosy place to chill out and drink

HELLO!

Remember last year I went to OverTime for it's official opening with Lin Chi Ling as the VIP guest? If you haven't read that,go read it here! Thy have once again invited me to try their food. Let me do the review and tell you,how does a pub food taste like.
Here's the rest of us who are here to try the food:

In case you're wondering what I am holding,it's the starker hammer!

To hammer the spout into the barrel!
It's just the beginning,beer for everyone! And now,here's the food:

Deep fried pork knuckles
It's been marinated with their secret sauce and then deep fried. Doesn't it make you feel like crunching it? Om!

VEGETABLE GARDEN
Purple cabbage, red kidney beans, cherry tomatoes, celery, Japanese cucumber, onion rings and iceberg lettuce served with thousand island or mayonnaise dressing (served on the side)

Chicken Satay
10 skewers of marinated chicken served with spicy peanut sauce, accompanied by red onions, cucumber and rice. Totally love this,the meat is nice and soft. One of the the must-order dishes when you are here!

Pork Sausages
Pork sausages stir-fried with bits of vegetables and tomatoes as dressing. Worth a try,not too oily.
Char Siew(lean pork meat) with spring rolls and.. more pork! It's a combination of 3-in-1.

Fries! And another 2 pork dishes. Again,this is a 3-in-1. A must-try if you're here,I totally love it! Perhaps its because this dish isn't as tough as the rest,I just did my braces a few days ago!

OverTime is a good place to chill. It has a very homey feeling and that evening,we all had a good friday laughing and catching up with one another. Taken many photos too! And here's mint. She's trying to...

Indeed,it's my DSLR. But it's Sze Ping's external flash. We are using the same camera model,but the pictures turned out differently! See,this is how much a external flash matters! Machiam like taken in day time,but it's actually quite dim there.
